Review by Scott Keys

After making to the Lodge Mansion, what are a bunch of teenagers facing the end of the world to do? POOL PARTY!!!

Issue 3 gives us a little insight into the history of Riverdale and the Lodge family, as well as following the gang as they try to cope with the events at hand. Archie decides to escape the mansion to check on his folks, and the others decide to let off some steam with a pool party. Meanwhile, Midge and Moose are having a discussion about their relationship when we find out that Midge has a “scratch.” Guess what folks? It wasn’t “just a scratch!” Zombie Midge and Moose crash into the pool, and the rest of the gang try to leave the water as Smithers is closing the pool cover! The gang is safe, for now, while Archie arrives home to find a horrifying surprise!

I must say, three issues in, and this book just keeps getting better and better! Aquirre-Sacasa’s writing is perfect, capturing the voices of these 70+ year old characters while updating them and completely changing the tone to fit the story…absolutely BRILLIANT! And words cannot express the love I have for Francavilla’s art. It’s hard to think of a better artist for this title (because there isn’t one), and the sheer emotion and suspense Francavilla is able to put into his art is astounding! Come on people! If you haven’t been reading this book, you are doing yourself a HUGE disservice!
