Review by Scott Keys

If you haven’t been reading the relaunch of the Valiant Universe, Bloodshot #0 is the perfect jumping on point! If that wasn’t a good enough reason, it’s written by Matt Kindt! And drawn by ChrisCross! Not enough for you? Read on…

Matt Kindt (Mind MGMT) does a wonderful job of giving us a glimpse of the early days of Project Rising Spirit and some of the historical moments dealt with by Bloodshot. I loved the narrative of the story, and the way he told the story through the scientist’s notes. This was a very well done, cleverly written story by one of the industry’s best writers.

It was also great to see CrisCross’ art. His style was perfect for this story! He can draw a great action sequence, and as evidenced in this issue, a very gory, bloody action sequence as well. This isn’t for the faint of heart by any stretch of the imagination. There is some very graphic violence in this issue, but it doesn’t seem excessive. The violence was a plot point to prove why the Bloodshot needed a “conscience,” and just added an extra layer to the story. I hope to see more from ChrisCross soon!

Bloodshot #0 is a great example of the excellent Valiant resurgence! Like I said, don’t let the kiddies read it, but if you are up for a violent, thought provoking story, this is the book for you!
