Disney planning on making a Star Wars Episode 7, 8, & 9

News that is blowing up the nerd-o-sphere is that Disney has just acquired LucasFilm Ltd.   The deal being struck will involve cash and stock options for LusaFilms.  All said and done, the deal will be worth $4.05 billion.

Disney is also planning on making a seventh movie in the “Star Wars” series called “Episode 7,” set for release in 2015.  They also have plans to follow it up with Episodes 8 and 9 and then one new movie every couple years after that.  Lucas will be a creative consultant on new “Star Wars” films.

Lucas said in a statement, “It’s now time for me to pass ‘Star Wars’ on to a new generation of filmmakers.”

The deal brings Lucasfilm under the Disney banner.  We all know that Disney has acquired Pixar,  ESPN and ABC, all companies that Disney has acquired over the years.  But with the most recent acquisition of Marvel, could we be seeing a Marvel/Star Wars crossover.  Well us at Drunk on Comics may have already gotten that ball rolling with our Shitty Avengers photo op with the original Darth Vader, David Prowse.
