Drunk on Comics Podcast 233: We Got Nothin’

First off, we would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of Gary Reed.  We learned of his passing this morning before posting our new episode, and are at a loss of words, like many in the industry.  We had met Gary at numerous comic-cons, and it was always pleasure to have him around.   He was integral to many of our comic book friends’ careers, and we will all be feeling the void he has left in the comic book world.

In this weeks podcast, like some in the past, we wing it and try to make sense of the entire comic book industry. Linz and Tony sit down to discuss all that there was in this week in the nerd realm, which wasn’t much. As they struggled to come up with some topics this week, they also had a few books to review.

Linz brought up Deadly Class #22. With a school full of assassins, death is inevitable. But wow was there some shockers on how many main characters have now hit the bucket. With no release date for the next book, its hard to imagine what the series has in store.

Tony read Grimm Fairy Tales: Van Helsing Vs. Frankenstein #2.  Like most things from Zenescope, they do many gender reversals, and with this title, Liesel Van Helsing is taking on the monster, but it doesn’t come about until the end of this book.  The art is always gorgeous from this publisher, and it is an interesting take on the series.

Tony also quickly reviewed a fun book with Street Fighter Swim Suit Special 2016.  It is mainly a pin up book of some of the series regulars revolving around their day at the beach.  No plot, just amazing art.  Definitely check it out.

They also talked a bit about the Tick, and about some science behind what a Galactic Tick is.   Also, Stan Lee will at least be making 4 more cameos in the movie universe, after completing a day long shoot for each film.

Booze and a Book was the pairing of Tank Girl Gold #1 with Christmas Pudding Vodka.
