Drunk on Comics Podcast 234: Tony Talks….A lot

Linz braved the coming of winter to spend some time in the studio with Tony this week. No one ever said she was the brightest crayon in the box. Since it was just the two of them and because Tony took a snow day to catch up on some reading, there was a lot of audio coming from the male half of this particular podcast. Linz just let him go because sometimes, you just have to.

The podcast started off with Tony jamming to the theme song from M.A.S.K. Linz wants everyone to know that this was not the first time they were listening to that song that day. Or the second. This did lead in to main topic of the particular podcast, which is the cross-over event from IDW. This event ties together the comic iterations of many of our favorite cartoons from the 80’s. Transformers, GI Joe, M.A.S.K, ROM, Micronauts, and Action Man. This event ties all the properties together with the IDW staple of Transformers being the starting point and the supporting beam that this universe is built on. The ways these stories are being tied together is done cleanly and with great thought and great story telling. Tony even thought the way the Micronauts were introduced was well done. These comics are definitley worth a pickup, especially if you are a fan of any these properties.

Moving on from that epic review, the two talked about the movie trailers that were released in the past week; Spider-man: Homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy V2, and War for Planet of the Apes. They talked about the similarities and differences of the upcoming Spider-man movie and its predecessors, how awesome Baby Groot is (and is totally not a cash-grab), and how well done the current Planet of the Apes movies are.

There was some excitement about the upcoming Ducktales cartoon on Disney XD, and the discovery (as if we did not know already) that Tony’s knowledge of stuff that is only useful for this podcast is immense. There was also a chat about some Power Ranger news, because why not.

Booze and Book this week was Nova #1 with a cocktail called The Resurrection.
