Drunk on Comics Podcast 236: A Year in Re-poo

This is our last podcast!

Of 2016. Don’t worry, some of us don’t have anything better to do, so we won’ leave you high and dry. Although with the dumpster fire that was 2016, it wouldn’t be surprising, am I right? The studio was full this week with all the usually faces; Tony, Linz and Derek were all in attendance and new-comer Josh filled the usually empty 4th seat. Things are definitely crazier when there are more of us. Linz almost fell in to Narnia…but that is a story for another time.

After the eloquent analogy of comparing 2016 to Derek’s actual shitty basement, Tony got things rolling with a review of Klaus and the Witch of Winter #1, a one-shot from the team of Grant Morrison and Dan Mora. This was a great comic to read during the holiday season, and follows Morrison’s iteration of Santa Claus out of the origin story of his original run in to our current time, where the warming of our Earth awakens a force that only Klaus can deal with. If you have not read the original Klaus storyline, definitely pick that up along with this title, although you can read this story without the other (it’s just so good that you should definitely read it).

After the review (and Derek’s shout out to the Power Man and Iron Fist: Sweet Christmas Annual #1), the foursome moved on to some news. Not a whole lot going on this week, but they managed to fill quite a bit of time talking about the spoilers coming out of Civil War II #8, Marvel’s hacked Twitter account, Power Ranger toys, Star Wars (the movie) and Star Wars (the religion).

The last part of the podcast was filled with us talking about our favorites of 2016. There was a lot of stuff that made us sad this year, so we thought it was important to remind ourselves (and you) that there was some really great stuff that came out of 2016 as well. Give a listen and then let us know what your favorites of 2016!

Booze and a Book this week was 4 Kids Walk in to a Bank #3 with a delicious cocktail called Truth Serum
