Drunk on Comics Podcast 248: When the Wheels Fell Off

There is not really a whole lot to say about this weeks podcast other than we talked about X-men…a lot. Like, think about all those other times we talked about X-men, and then add 20 minutes to it. We were all over the place with this subject too; TV shows, movies, the actual comic books (I know, right?!?!?). It was definitely a podcast focused on all of our favorite gang of mutants.

Linz also reviewed Grass Kings #1 by Matt Kindt (you know, THE Matt Kindt) and Tyler Jenkins (the magnificent artist on Peter Panzerfaust). This book is about a community that has claimed their own part of the country and rule it as if they were not part of the country. They make their own rules, decide who is going to live among them, and generally seem to try and exist undisturbed by the outside world. However, just like any small town, there are secrets to be uncovered and Matt Kindt does a great job getting you interested in just what those secrets are. The art in this book is amazing, with watercolors used for color but definitely some fine pen detail added in. It is a beautiful sight to behold, which seems like it might need to be beautiful to counteract all the dirt that will be coming up about these characters. Definitely a good book to pick from, from BOOM! Studios.

Oh, other than the X-men, we talked about Tony’s car breaking down. If you see him, make sure to mention it.

Booze and a Book this week was Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern #2 paired with a cocktail called Planet of the Apes (taste the banana goodness!)
