Drunk on Comics Podcast 255: Set Your Calendars to Time
Linz and Josh record from the comfort of Studio C this week. Tony is off recovering from an assault by Mother Nature and her army of pollen.
Josh did his first review of a comic on the podcast, Ben Reilly: Scarlet Spider #1. Josh remembers this character from his younger years and was excited to take a walk down memory lane, but was quickly kicked in the shins by the inevitable foe of all comic loving nerds: the costume change. The book is funny, definitely playing Ben as more of a Deadpool-type character. A great book to pick up, but a word to the wise; if you do not know this character, we suggest checking out Dead No More: The Clone Conspiracy first to give you better insight in to the character.
Linz review No World #1 from Aspen comics. Linz admittedly has not read any Aspen comics prior to this, but is aware of their reputation for great stories and beautiful art. This book definitely holds to that reputation. The book starts with a brutal massacre in a mall and quickly moves to the introduction of three of the main characters of the series, Iris, Miya, and Dellec. These are all characters that appeared in previous Aspen works, and the events that occurred in Revelations has brought them together in this book. This is a great book for Aspen newbies and long time devotees alike.
In News this week the dynamic duo covered the obvious but unannounced cancellation of the DC show Powerless, reminds you about Free Comic Book Day, talk about the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom game, and cover the documentary about that time that Superman took on the KKK.
Booze and Book this week is There’s Nothing There #1 paired with a whole lot of tequila.
