Drunk on Comics Podcast 256: A Fresh of Breath Air
It was free comic book day this past weekend, and that means tons of free comics came into the recording studio. Tony was late to his shop, so had slimmer pickings than Josh and Linz had going earlier in the day. But between them all, they got a good few to review.
The group touched on a few books such as Secret Empire, I Hate Image, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, 2000 A.D. and a few others that they picked up. They also talked about how FCBD has changed over the years. As was seen in the epic last page of Secret Empire, along with many people protesting ironically with burning of the book, the day has much more to it than just giving out free comics.
The group also talked at length of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Without throwing too many spoilers in this post, they definitely talked about many plot points of the movie without even talking much about the great plot of the movie. It was beyond expectations, and if you haven’t seen the movie yet, you need to go now.
Tony was hugely disappointed in the photo of the Inhumans television show coming out this fall. Especially Medusa’s hair. With talks about it being hard for the CGI team, it seems less than likely it will live up to expectations. Going along with that theme, The Defenders trailer had 3 good points, and one glaring frustration.
Booze and a Book was Youngblood #1 (drawn by friend of the show Jim Towe) paired with a Blood Orange Honey from Cheboygan Brewing.
