Drunk on Comics Podcast 277: Death of A Sound Mixer

It’s a sad day for Drunk on Comics.   They lost a very crucial member of their group, the sound mixer.   It was old when it first joined the group, taking over duties from the snowball mic, and it did it’s job well over 5 years.  But it recorded its last episode at 275. But besides this techincal setback, Linz and Tony had the snowball up and running to record this weeks episode.   It may not be as great sounding as usual, but we will be looking for a more profesional replacement soon.

And with that said, both Linz and Tony got into a much longer discussion with the books in Off the Shelf this week.   Tony was going to do a quick review of Ultimates 2 #100 and wanted to wait until Matt was back on the show to talk more of the Cosmic Order of the Marvel Universe.   But while trying to explain briefly, Linz wanted to know more, and so Tony unleashed some of what transpired within the series.   It is one of the Marvel books that needs to be read for anyone who thinks the “bad guys” can never be redeemed and stay good without the inevitable going back to the status quo.

Tony also talked about Secret Empire #9, and how some of it ties into Generations: The Unworthy Thor and The Mighty Thor #1.   With the chaos going on in Secret Empire, and Jane Foster Thor missing in action, we see finally Thor controlling the thunder.  But in the Generations book, we see a time displaced Lady Thor running into a younger Thor.  The book is another great pairing in the Generations books, and the ending has something to do with the next Legacy Event from Marvel.

Linz reviewed Hi-Fi Fight Club #1 from BOOM! Studios.   The book brings back the old music shops that would be reminiscent of Empire Records.  But the premise takes more from fight club, at least in what was revealed after the disappearance of a key band-mate.    Linz is not sure if there is a Tyler Durden or soap making in the basement of this shop, but the mystery of this fight club is wanting her to learn more of this story.

Booze and a Book was the perfect pairing of the Game of Thrones inspired Bend the Knee from Ommegang brewery with Game of Throne: Clash of Kings #3.
