Drunk on Comics Podcast 290: Extra Thordinary

Linz is back from a few podcasts off, and she is ready to rumble.   Tony on the other hand was explaining to her adventures in babysitting when he had to watch his nephew this week.   There was much of young cartoon shows in the nerd realm that he had no clue until the young 5 year old explained it to him.

Tony reviewed 3 books in off the shelf, the first of which were The Mighty Thor #700 and #701.   The way Thor 700 weaved a tapestry of stories of the many iterations of Thor was superb.   It set up for what is going to be another epic battle for those who have wielded the hammer.   In Thor #701, it continues from the strands and sees one Thor decimated by Magong.   For anyone that has missed previous stories of the Norse God, this series is another great chapter in what Jason Aaron has made the epitome of the character.

He also talked some more about the Asgardians with Doctor Strange 381.  In this series, Steven Strange is no longer the Sorcerer Supreme.  In his place is Loki.   How Loki protects Earth from those unseen is unlike any magic user who has come before him.  With the “price to pay” with magic something he doesn’t feel like following, Loki might be in for a surprise when his rule breaking comes back tenfold.

Linz reviewed Evolution #1, which left her perplexed.  The book has 4 writers, which is strange in one way, but with 3 different distinct story lines within the book, it makes sense to see why.  The biggest question is where do those stories go.  With a lot of mystery, its a book both of the crew will want to see how it turns out.
