Drunk on Comics Podcast 299: Superman For The Win
It’s another week with the podcast you’ve grown to love over the years…. And we are almost at another pinnacle episode. Although Linz and Tony have some plans for #300, they probably will forget by the next weeks recording. But nonetheless, (which is a weird word to type out) they had some great books they reviewed this week.
Linz reviewed 2 books both of which were beautifully drawn. However, the subject matters differed greatly. In her review of The Ice Cream Man #1, Linz talked about one of the scenes in the book with a deadly spider. This creeped Tony out but the story was strange and also unique enough to get him to be on board. The other book, Days of Hate #1, had a society at the edge of humanity. The setting is too close to home in some regards.
Tony had a theme going with his 2 books revolving around cancer. The Mighty Thor #703 put a nail in Jane’s story that no hammer can fell. The revelation of the cancer inside of her, and how the next transformation to Thor will be her last will be a choice that may be her last. And with Superman #39, the most heartwarming story Tony has read in years, had the Justice League giving a gift to the young cancer patients that Superman brought to the Watch Tower.
Booze and a Book is the pairing of Belle: Beast Hunter #1 with a Milwaukee’s Best (the beast)
