Drunk on Comics Podcast 166: The Sinking of the Ship

The guys all learned a thing or two about each other this week, along with Derek trading some childhood toys for newer adult toys. Really, they went on a tangent for a bit before getting into some reviews this week. But Tony started off with sneaking a review of 2 books, Spawn #254 and #255. The look and feel of this new story era of Spawn has him wanting to go back in time to read all the books he missed in the series. They’re Not Like Us #7 is a realistic look at the genre of people with super powers. Derek liked the struggles that these characters have, while becoming young adults in this intense study of humanity.

Adam was thrilled with the TV show turned comic book Over The Garden Wall #1. The comic follows the half-brothers as a companion to the Cartoon Network mini series to give fans more of this world. Probably one of the best books the group has ever read is Hank Johnson Agent of Hydra #1. Other Derek explained how terrible a life Hank has being an agent of Hydra, and the comic relief the characters in this book portray. Everyone wants more Hank Johnson.

Indie Turnpike was the massive Empowered #9. Everything from the suit, to the reflections on the writing in the back of the book make it a must read for those following the series.

Booze and a Book was inspired by Ghostbusters Get Real #3 paired with a Ghostbuster drink, which is 1 part Peach Schnapps, 1 part Melon Liqueur and 3-5 drops of Irish Cream Liqueur.
