Drunk on Comics Podcast 174: Linz is the Queen Bee

If there was ever a need for an audio example of the word shit-show, this episode holds that title. With only 2 episodes left before Derek embarks on his new venture, Linz decided to bring more booze than normal while recording, and the two of them definitely were sauced throughout the episode. Joining them this week to help keep things on track was Tony, who was in a first for him, relatively “sober” this week.

Derek started off with a review of Cognetic #1.  Within this crazy story involving a hive mind and chairs made out of humans, we get amazing panel layouts that help convey the story.  The splash page of the Empire State Building itself makes this a book that needs to be on your pull.  Linz took the long road in giving her review of Clean Room #1.  From car crashes to teddy bears and blown off faces, this clean room is a dark mystery.

Tony was super excited for BTTF day that he picked up Back To The Future #1.  This is a book that does well with an already established franchise to give more life to the cannon within.  Focusing on characters and their interactions is a great way to explain some of the questions people may have after the trilogy such as: how did Marty meet Emmet, and how did the Doc get back to the future on his train time machine or what was Doc’s role in the Manhattan Project.  There are so many roads this book can go towards, but where it’s going it won’t need roads.

Indie Turnpike was Fistful of Blood #1 which is a must read for fans of Simon Bisley and Kevin Eastman.

Booze and a Book was the pairing of a Tokyo Mojito with Tokyo Ghost #1.
