Drunk on Comics Podcast 184: THE Teamwork
Linz, Adam, and Tony got THE podcast that you want to hear. THE very best of what there is in nerdy news and a great comic book review. They reviewed the new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #0 from BOOM! Studios, and it was a great nostalgia trip with a twist. Taking place right when the Green Ranger is getting past his control of Rita, we find out that he is not completely free of her spell. While the book had 3 different stories, they all tied into the old television show with modern times.
Bulk and Skull had their own story, which seemed fitting to have them in the book, but away from the serious tone that the main story had. The book also had updated technology, with the Rangers texting instead of using their communicators to reach each other. We also saw more diversity within the battles through the amazing art work that was not able to be conveyed on TV. And Zordon seems to not be taking any of the teenage antics this time around.
They also talked about the movie to take DC properties away from Netflix, along with some of what Marvel has in store for the small screen universe. A great humble bundle is currently out, and if you are rich, you could own all of the Marvel titles from an online auction. Plus, in weird news, someone wants to have a Deadpool PG-13 cut.
Booze and a Book was Secret Wars #9 paired with Unibroue’s La Fin du Monde (The End of the World) which is a fitting end to this event.
