Drunk on Comics Podcast 202: Getting Tanked
Linz and Tony decided to take the extra time on this holiday weekend to get a little more drunk than normal while recording this weeks episode. Since there wasn’t a lot of news in the industry, they went at length on 2 comic books this week. First was Tank Girl: Two Girls One Tank #1. Linz loves this series, and she filled Tony in on all things tanks and Kangaroos. There were some comparisons to the live action movie, as well as the question of where does a girl get her tank in the first place.
Next, Tony reviewed the new Captain America: Steve Rogers #1. Most people have heard the controversy of this title by retconning everything that has been know about Cap. The story so far is great, giving some glimpses of where it is going. There are many things that the comic book industry does to create buzz, but this is one of those which seems unneeded. However, it is also something that needs to be read in full to get the entire picture of what Marvel is doing.
There was also talk about Ghostbusters again, as well as the original television show of the same name but completely different group of busters, including an gorilla. This also brought on some thoughts of the new X-men movie and what Linz thought were some great moments within. They also touched on some sweet toys coming out at SDCC 20016.
Booze and a Book was the pairing of Final Absolution with Afterlife with Archie #9.
