Drunk on Comics Podcast 216: Finding Buoyancy

Linz and Tony were ready to record this week while Derek took another fishing trip.  However, they were surprised to find Matt in the studio.  He has been out for quite some time battling naysayers and informing fans in the real world, but has missed the feel of recording, so is trying to make it a bit more.

The group discussed again some thoughts on Suicide Squad.  As far as who is right or wrong in the debate, the group really feels that the fanboys need to look at the movie objectively to see the multitude of problems it suffers from.  Hopefully with Geoff Johns coming on board, they will be able to make something of the DC cinematic Universe.

One of the best crossover events that will NEVER take place again was the Amalgam comics event between DC and Marvel.  It is seriously a fun event with both DC and Marvel fighting each other, only to be combined into a single universe.   The group talked about some of their favorite parts of the event, which debuted 20 years ago.

With the Summer Olympics taking place, the team has had fun putting superheroes into events and deciding who would win.  Matt decided it would be a good twist to place real Olympians in place of both Justice League and Avengers.  The list is pretty solid, but Tony royally messed up on Aquaman by stating his old college friend, Dan Phelps is the best in the world.  (trust us, he is not, but his “cousin” Michael is).

Booze and a Book was the Labyrinth: 30th Anniversary Special paired with a Mead.  It doesn’t matter what kind, just grab some nectar of the Gods and enjoy this book.
