Drunk on Comics Podcast 218: What’s In a Name

Linz, Derek and Tony are looking forward to Grand Con, and will be having more information on this great convention coming soon.  But until we get there, we explore the things we love of the nerd realm.  They kick it off this week with a bit of a tangent on WWE wrestling, and then get into some comics.

Linz reviewed Snotgirl #2.  Her love of Brian Lee O’Malley knows no bounds.  This book oozes with potential and creative fashion.   Although the subject matter of a stalker might have some parallels with the way Linz feels about O’Malley, she also loved the great art and page layout design.    Tony got into one of his loves, which is Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Annual #1.  This book has a hefty price tag, but its contents are worth the price of admission.   There are 6 great stories, which Tony got into a bit of his favorites.

Although we joke about some of our friends in the comic book business and helping them out before they broke out, we are more than proud of our friend Jim Towe, and his amazing re-imaging of the new Youngblood series coming out next year.  Tony is stoked that they gave a new code name to the hero taking over the Iron Man series, and they also discussed who is Harley Quinn.  They also talked about a cruise ship comic-con combo leaving port in January.

Booze and a Book was Blue Beetle: Rebirth #1 paired with a Blue Jay which consists of 2 oz of gin, 1 oz of triple sec, 1 oz of Blue Curacao and 2 dashes of bitters.
