Review by Scott Keys

With the aptly named “Power Couple” of Superman and Wonder Woman roaming the New 52, it was only a matter of time before someone put the two in a book together (I mean, we have a Batman/Superman book, so why not). Going in, I didn’t know what to expect, but after reading the first issue, I’m in!

Charles Soule is one of those writers that I’ll give a new title a shot for, and this book was no exception. Besides the fact that it has two of my favorite characters in it, I just knew that Soule would make it interesting and not just “Justice League Lite.” I must say that it was refreshing to see Clark and Diana outside of their self-titled books and focusing more on the two of them together. Don’t worry, this isn’t purely a “relationship” book, there is plenty of action, too! I’m just gonna say one word concerning the action in this book: DOOMSDAY! And he’s fighting Diana! Ok, that was more than one word, but I couldn’t help it, sorry. But what is action without an artist? Probably a jumbled-up mess, but thankfully on this book we get the ever-talented Tony Daniel and Batt. They have such a smooth style, but with a great sense of action. A great combination for this book and these characters. Just check out Wonder Woman trying to stop the plane, and of course their depiction of Doomsday! You don’t find much better super-hero art than that!

I’m rather pleased with this first issue, and can’t wait to see where this story leads. Soule and Daniel have a real hit on their hands!

Art: 4.5 / 5
Story: 4.5 / 5
Overall: 4.5 / 5
