Drunk on Comics Podcast 272: Women Can’t Be Balloons

Tony started out right away in this week’s episode to see what Linz and Josh thought about the trailer for The Shape of Water.   Theories are going wild with it being related to Hellboy.  Guillermo del Toro loves his monster movies, and it could just be a remake of Creature from The Black Lagoon, but there are too many similarities to Abe Sapien that we aren’t sure what to believe.

Off the shelf this week had Tony talking about Grimm Fairy Tales Swimsuit Edition 2017, which really is a book of many pin-ups, like most of the covers in this series.  But it brought up an important question about mermaids and butts.   He also talked about Dr. Strange #23.   Seeing Kingpin being a “good guy” while he’s trapped in New York under the Dark Dimension is all parts awesome.  Linz reviewed Descender #22.  It’s hard to jump into the book, but you should pick up issue one, because the entire story is turning to Terminator type proportions.

There was talk of some of the news that has come out from San Diego Comic Con, and much more will be discussed in the next week.  A good discussion on this episode had to do with Dr. Who.   The newest casting of Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor has gotten the internet choosing sides.  While the team is on board with a female Doctor, Tony gives some counter points of if it is needed.

Booze and a Book was the pairing of Sisters of Sorrow #1 paired with Adelbert’s Brewery Naked Nun.
