Drunk on Comics Podcast 324: It’s an AA Weekend (Alcohol and Anniversaries)
It has become a week of many celebrations each year at this time. Not only has Drunk on Comics become 6 years old, but the day also marks Linz’s birthday as well. Who would have known that a fan-girl of the show would eventually become a host, would also share the same “birthday” as the show. But it also marked the 1 year anniversary of Derek and Mel getting married.
When they picked the date for their Wedcon last year, it was a weird coincidence that it also fell on the date this podcast was started. It has become a hell of a ride over the years with multiple hosts coming and going, but Tony is committed to having fun and sharing his love of everything nerdy for years to come. Here’s to many more celbrations over the years.
The duo didn’t dwell too much on the podcast going through another year, as they got right into some comic book weddings. They discussed the nuptials within X-men Gold #30, and it is something they were not to thrilled with. Batman #49 had a killer joke within it, setting up the stage for Batman’s wedding, which Tony hopes doesn’t go the way of Kitty and Colossus.
Tony also spoke of Flavor #2, which is a great book on something unique in the world of comics. He also spoke of the wonderfully written and drawn Fraggle Rock #2 from Jay Fosgitt. It is great seeing friends drawn in comics, and the people who became fraggles are perfect. But not only that, Jay got the entire essence of Fraggle Rock down in one story. This is definitely a book to pick up.
Booze and a Book is Tank Girl All Stars #1 paired with all the left over wine coolers from Linz’s birthday party.
