Review by Tom Barnett

I would rather have to buy all my comics with the covers torn off then to not have another issue of Journey into Mystery! Lady Sif goes out with her own displeasure of events in this final issue of Journey, but not without a great ending to a great series.

Our heroes find themselves and a wicked All Mother heading straight from space to Asgardia. This issue had it all. Edge of your seat excitement, laugh out loud moments and Star Wars references. Two, that I saw.

Kathryn Immonen gave this issue and series so much heart. She did it with quiet moments between Beta Ray Bill and Lady Sif. She did it with the big heroic moments like Bill saving Sif after the ship explodes. She did it with the humorous moments like Sif telling Bill he talks to much. She did all this with the help of one of the best creative teams assembled.

The dialogue was brought to life by Valerio Schiti’s fantastic faces. His expressions were priceless. All of the characters were wonderfully drawn and his All Mother monster was indeed worthy of being in a book where monsters where the mainstay before it became a Thor, Loki or Sif driven title.

Jordie Bellaire out did herself with her fantastic coloring. Whether it was the red hues of being inside a non-operation Skuttlebutt or the soft and subtle blues and greens of the outer space scenes, it was a job well done. She didn’t just give colors for the sake of putting color on the page. All of her scenes were well thought out and deliberate.

Don’t forget Clayton Cowles, who supplied the appropriate amount of exasperation to Bill’s voice when Sif was driving him insane. And for conveying all of Sif’s brashness, tenderness and intensity.
I loved Jeff Dekal’s cover taking all Marvel logo and the title and sweeping it out into space.

I hope that it is not too long before we see the characters again and see the consequences of this issue’s events on Asgardia and Broxton. Go buy this issue or wait for the trade, but really do yourself a favor and read this story arc in one form or another. You’ll get to see a creative team firing on all cylinders.

As this is the last issue I want to give out a very sincere thank you to all of the team for making Journey into Mystery one hell of a good book. It will be missed. Fare thee well fine creators of fairy tales. May our paths cross again.
