Review by Scott Keys

Recently, Justin Jordan and Brad Walker took over Green Lantern: New Guardians. While I enjoyed Tony Bedard’s run, Jordan and Walker have really made this book their own, and I’m looking forward to a new issue each month!

I’ll be honest, I’m a HUGE Kyle Rayner fan! Kyle is MY Green Lantern (sorry H.E.A.T., remember them?). Since Geoff Johns breathed new life into the franchise, I enjoy all of the Earth Lanterns, but I still have a soft spot for Kyle, and I think that Jordan does too. This issue shows you why Kyle is the best Lantern (regardless of color) in the universe. Jordan effortlessly takes this large cast and makes them all shine, and don’t get me started on the ending (no spoilers, just read this book!). He’s also done a great job with the Blue Lantern Corps, which is featured in this issue, showing why they may be the best Corps of them all. Great job, Mr. Jordan! The New Guardians are in good hands!

Not only is this a great story, but Walker does an excellent job illustrating it as well! His depiction of each Corps and their members is spectacular. And that splash page of Adara…BEAUTIFUL! You even see a tear in her eye. Something, indeed, “is very wrong” Saint Walker. The detail in Relic’s ship, along with the scale, are quite impressive as well! The best scene, by far, is the final few panels. Walker takes a trip across the emotional spectrum, and takes the reader on one as well (again, read this book!).

Green Lantern: New Guardians #23 is an emotional roller-coaster that every Green Lantern fan should read. I promise that you won’t regret the decision to read it!
